Social Welfare

Many social problems continue to plague our society even today including homelessness, hunger, lack of sanitation facilities etc. It’s imperative for any society to aim at equal and inclusive growth and discharge its social responsibilities towards the less fortunate.

Ekata Manch tries to address these needs of the underprivileged sections of society by providing the requisite help to the best of our abilities. During natural calamities it becomes all the more important to band together to help those in distress.

Past & Current Initiatives:

  • Implemented the ‘Roti Bhaji Yojana’ where approximately 100 people are fed on a daily basis
  • Installed a ‘Community Fridge’ in Yari Road, Versova where fresh food is provided to the needy
  • Installed borewells at Madh Island.
  • A ‘Langar’ (Food Distribution) is being run since last 16 years where approximately 1000 people are fed on a weekly basis.
  • Distribution of relief materials to the affected areas during natural calamities:
    • Deluge of  26th July, Mumbai
    • Earthquake at Bhuj
    • Floods at Kerala, Kashmir and Maharashtra
    • Covid Pandemic
  • Seminars for co-operative housing societies on various social issues
  • Interactive sessions between police and public to create awareness on issues pertaining to law and order
  • Organized ‘Corona Mukt Samaaj’ theme based street plays across Mumbai to create awareness amongst citizens. Leaflets were distributed to the attendees with information regarding the symptoms of corona, precautions to be taken, numbers of helpline centres along-with a list of vaccination centres
  • Set up a centre for migrant workers to help them fill forms and documents for their railway travel and reservation during the first wave of the Covid pandemic
  • Provision of free ambulance services to the needy
  • Distribution of umbrellas to the under privileged class of the society.
  • Organized camps for issuing Aadhar cards for the citizens of the area
  • Prayer meet paying tribute to the martyrs of Pulwama
  • EKATA MANCH distributed 3 seater Benches to co-operative Housing societies in Versova constituency
  • Mumbai Suburban District Legal Services Authority in association with Ekata Manch has started Legal Aid Service Centre at Children Welfare Centre High School, Yari Road, Versova Andheri west.
  • Skill development programme under the aegis of CWC skill world is run for unemployed youth. The courses come under skill India and Pradhan Mantri Kaushalya Vikas Yojana

Future Initiatives in the pipeline:

  • To organize awareness drives on health measures post Covid and vaccination.
  • To build a counselling centre for those adversely affected by the pandemic to promote mental health
  • To create an ecosystem that provides relief, employment or self-employment opportunities for the financially distressed
